What we do

• Policy reform and submissions – we regularly work with regulators and industry participants to develop policy and legislation, and we make submissions on proposed legislative changes.
• Legislative drafting – we draft primary and secondary legislation for both central and local government agencies, and advise clients on legislative change.
• Treaty settlement drafting and advice – we are a longstanding and key legal service provider and advisor to the Crown and central government agencies on Treaty settlements, and we regularly draft settlement deeds and legislation and advise on the structuring of Treaty settlements and post-settlement arrangements.
• Crown-Māori relations – we assist central government agencies on high profile matters involving Crown-Māori relations.
• Central and local government decision-making – we advise central and local government agencies on decision-making processes and obligations under all relevant legislation.
• Legislative and policy compliance – we assist clients with formulating their internal policies to comply with relevant legislation and regulatory requirements, and we advise on compliance requirements with respect to particular projects.
• Privacy and information – we advise clients on their obligations under the Privacy Act 2020, the Official Information Act 1982 and similar legislation.
