Link Alliance: City Rail Link
Greenwood Roche is assisting Link Alliance is delivering the City Rail Link - New Zealand's largest ever transport infrastructure project to deliver the country's first underground railway

We continue to act for the Link Alliance's Other Alliance Participants on City Rail Link, set to deliver a 3.45km twin tunnel underground rail connecting Waitematā Station (Britomart) to a redeveloped Maungawhau Station at Mount Eden, with two new underground stations en-route – Te Waihorotiu at Aotea Square and Karanga-a-hape Station at Mercury Lane.
Greenwood Roche have been an integral support to the project delivery team since mid-2019, first advising during project establishment with strategic and procurement advice, through to developing a suite of contracts for the downstream supply chain, undertaking negotiations and advising on contract administration and claims management.
Construction of the project is due to complete in early-to-mid 2026 with the project team's sights set firmly on completing the commissioning and handover of project assets to Auckland Transport and KiwiRail.
Amy Rutherford and Tanya Young have provided day to day support as an integrated part of Link Alliance's project team and interfacing directly with the key stakeholders, City Rail Link Limited, Auckland Transport and KiwiRail.
As the project moves closer to completion the team continues to regularly advise on complex issues such as the earlier staged handover of North Auckland Line assets, interfaces between the project delivery team and Downer (maintenance contractor), subcontract disputes (including CCA adjudication) and now the final stages of commissioning and Project handover.
